Zubrowka is perhaps that Polish vodka which most easily wins hearts of foreigners. So many times have we witnessed someone looking with joyful disbelief at their just-emptied, first-ever glass of Zubrowka, that we know that for sure. And we think we know how to explain that effect. It's simply that Zubrowka is not just another high-quality vodka.

Polish vodka "Bison Grass" Zubrowka also has a very distinctive taste, quite different from any other vodka. Although dry, Zubrowka has a delicate herbal flavor and slightly yellowish colour, thanks to the tincture of zubrowka grass added to the distillate. The grass lends its name to the vodka.

But why is there a bison (or buffalo if you will) on the vodka's label? 

Everyone has heard about Polish vodka but not many people seem to know about Polish nalewka. And that is very wrong because nalewka is THE Polish speciality, very typical of the country's tradition.

What is then nalewka? Polish Nalewka is an alcoholic drink of about 40-50% alcohol by volume, which has a natural flavor, usually herbal or fruity. The flavor is derived by maceration of herbs, fruits or spices which are placed in alcohol. Other substances, e.g. sugar, honey or syrup are often used too.

Drinking a well-prepared nalewka is an awesome experience, comparable with tasting a good wine. 

Bigos belongs to those legendary dishes Polish cuisine couldn’t do without. If you travel to Poland you may not come across it if you only stick to tourist routes and menus. But it’s definitely worthwhile to find and taste a well-prepared bigos. For years it’s been extremely popular with the Poles.
